Thinc Iowa: Let's take a #familyphoto, meet

Thinc Iowa is a bright new future for Des Moines.

Needless to say, we’re excited and thought you might be too. So we thought we should commemorate the occasion with another #FamilyPhoto, like the one we did in Big Omaha, seen below. So bring your finest jean jacket and turtle neck (and/or your favorite startup t-shirt) and meet us at Anna Jones‘ photobooth during the afternoon break at 2:30pm. Don’t forget to smile/yell.

Also, let’s hook up! We’ll have a handful of Dwolla folk walking around each event. Can’t find us? Tweet us. We’ll make it happen.

Ok, now a little cheatsheet for you Dwolla attendees out there: (more…)

Dwolla, now available in your Shopify store!

Dwolla is now integrated with Active Merchant for use in Shopify!

Shopify is pretty much the standard shopping cart for getting up and running and building an E-commerce store instantly. We have good news for the 16,000+ merchants who use Shopify. These brilliant, forward thinking guys have just integrated with their first payment network, Dwolla, right on the heels of their $15 million dollar round (congrats!).

They have dozens of gateways integrated to process payments and have worked with us to bring those 16,000+ stores huge payment savings.

You can now easily build Dwolla into your shopping cart and start saving money over those other services if you’re a Shopify user. With Dwolla there is no extra markup in the transaction.

Here is how to activate Dwolla in your Shopify store.

Benefits over every other gateway in the Shopify system:

  • No credit card or percentage fees
  • No signup fees
  • Just Dwolla’s 25 cents per transaction
You can start accepting payments instantly with your store, at no cost, with a service that doesn’t have those fees… Dwolla ;)
To activate Dwolla in Shopify follow these directions (it’s in BETA so you’ll need to request it!)

The Dwolla Store!

Do you have Dwolla enabled in your store and want to be listed here?
Let us know! Shoot us a tweet or send us an email and we’ll let the world know!

So you want Dwolla in Freshbooks? Here's how we can make that happen, together.

A while back I was fortunate to be able to talk with some of the fine folks at Freshbooks. In my typical fashion I’m sure I said something like, “What do I have to do to get Dwolla integrated with Freshbooks?”

The answer back then was, “Build out something compatible with Active Merchant” -so we did. Now that we have the technology down, we just need to show the fine folks at Freshbooks that our users want it.

Getting Dwolla integrated at this point is just a matter of enough people suggesting Dwolla as a feature.  So here we go!

If you’d like to see Dwolla integrated. Please click this link and fill out the form.

Not sure what to write? Feel free to use our canned submission below:

I’d like to see the Dwolla offsite payment gateway offered inside of Freshbooks. The offsite gateway was built into Active Merchant and should be an easy implementation that will save Freshbook business users a boatload of money. With Dwolla, Merchants:

  • Will avoid credit card fees and merchant accounts
  • Will avoid handling sensitive financial information
  • Are able to get their money faster with flexible withdrawal limits and times
  • Are able to take mobile payments in their brick-and-mortar stores

Thanks for your time and consideration!

The first Dwolla Grocery Store

I saw this pop up on twitter last week and got a pretty good kick out of it.

When it comes to groceries, I don’t actually get them very often (unless it’s the apple smoked pork from Larry at Cleverly Farms at the Farmers Market).

Wheatsfield Cooperative in Ames (as far as I know) is the first grocery to start marketing that they are utilizing Dwolla. After I dug into the website a little bit more I can’t help but feel like this place is a bit of a gem. They have:

If you’re in the area check it out and let us know your thoughts!
UPDATE: I was just informed by Jordan, an ISU alumnus, that it is in fact awesome and that everyone should go there.

Who wants FiSync?

As you may have heard, we’re gearing up over here for something big. Naturally, we’re looking to grow intelligently and to concentrate our resources on the projects that mean the most to you.

One of those projects is FiSync.

If you’ll recall, FiSync, provides tiered integrations to banking institutions around the country.  Depending on the level of your financial institution’s integration, the benefits could range from instant verification to instant load to and from your Dwolla account. Our partners in the technology, The Members Group, have been killing it lately, having signed 16  integrations throughout the nation in the past few months (that’s over 1 million potential Dwolla members).

We have new business leads filtering in everyday, which is great, but we don’t want to ignore you, our community. Feel free to drop us a line and tell us which banks we should go after next.

As always, the priority at Dwolla is you. Thanks!
