Updates all over this house

The New Years / Xmas break for Dwolla wasn’t about reinventing the company. It was about doing some holiday cleaning on a few items on the logged-in pages and finding solutions to some common themes. I think these are things that we can all generally agree needed some love.

The reset password flow has been updated

The reset PIN flow has been updated

Pagination has been added on the Money In / Money Out / Pending / Fees tabs

Request Money got a makeover and updated upload functionality

Multi-Payments don’t look like hell

The settings pages have been updated to boot :)

We know this was a long time coming. Thank you for the time and feedback to help us decide which places needed some TLC. We have more on the way, but keep the feedback coming! More big moves coming in February!

Please join us in OKC @ Elemental Coffee Roasters

Dwolla is heading to OKC on January 5th @ 5:30 to Elemental Coffee Roasters. Let’s hang out.

Please RSVP here if you can attend!

It’s a funny thing about coffee shops, there always seems to be more percolating at these places than just the espresso. In cities throughout the country, independent coffee shops have served as central hubs for students, developers, and creatives. Mix all of that with caffeine, headphones and computers,  and you have the foundation for a powerful community.

This is the same reason why coffee shops have played such an important role in Dwolla’s story.

Sam DuRegger just joined our team about 3 weeks ago and one of the first things he thought of was this great little coffee shop in Oklahoma City, called Elemental Coffee Roasters. So Sam is heading that way to show people how Dwolla works, rocking some t-shirts, and just generally being a good dude :)

Fun fact: Sam has this great story about running into the Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips in a local OKC coffee shop, you’ll have to ask him about it… Serendipitous encounters like this are the type of thing that makes a great coffee shop, well, great.

For those that don’t know Sam, he’s a repeat entrepreneur and sincerely genuine guy. He’s been a huge advocate of Dwolla for a while now, and I personally attribute Smokey Row in Pella accepting Dwolla to he and Josh Cowman. The man drinks as much coffee as I do. Before Sam started with us he was rocking it out at Charming Beard Productions, of which will give you a good insight into just how awesome he is.

So, come on out to Elemental Coffee, pay for your latte with Dwolla, and meet others who are excited and/or curious about what Dwolla can do for their store, non-profit, or pocketbook.

RSVP Here: Jan. 5th from 5:30-7:30pm

Instant for iOS – A Sneak Peak

Dwolla is getting ready to ensure everyone receives access to Instant on your mobile phones soon. iOS and Android are in for a major update.

For the first time in our history the Android application and the iOS application actually function in a very similar way once this is completed.

We wanted to give you a clear idea of what Instant is going to look like inside the iOS and Android app. Now that some people are off and running using Instant on the web, we’ve had a ton of questions about how this will look on the mobile phone.

So here is an idea of what to expect!

Mobile Registration Now Live

We realize most  people reading this blog have already registered for Dwolla, but hopefully this post is a nice way of saying, “We are listening.”

The mobile registration is now live so that users trying to register on their phone can do so without using the big form that users are familiar with when registering on a computer. We know it was a bit cumbersome to register on a cell phone, therefore we are pleased to announce we have eliminated another ‘pain point’ for our users.

The new mobile registration does all of the same things, sans connecting to social networks, and works great across Android and iPhone. Here are a few screenshots of the updated process:

Thank you, from our entire team

From our entire team, thank you for an amazing day.

Yesterday was about as good as it gets for a launch day. Everything worked, nothing crashed, and life goes on with something really amazing under our belt.

The requests for Instant are accelerating every hour. The current demand is putting those asking to to use Instant into an approval queue. As the system scales to support more users, we’ll be accepting as many applications as possible. Right now,we are approving more and more every hour.

Thank you for your time and support. If it wasn’t for the amazing community online and off… Dwolla wouldn’t be a shred of the growing company it is today.

Oh, and if you weren’t able to make it (or you’ve never been to one of our meetups), be sure to check out the amazing moments captured by Anna Jones here and here. More thanks go to Jon Thompson of EVOLVE and Chris New of Event1 for setting up the livestream (thank you for hosting, Silicon Prairie News).

Yesterday was a pretty incredible day. Here is a recap of some of the coverage:

We know there’s a huge opportunity for education around this product and the goals we have for it. We’ll be approaching them after we get some sleep :)

Thank you!
