Announcing NYC’s First eCommerce Hack Day (Aug 4-5)
Dear New York City Tech Community,
In participation with the good folks over at Etsy, we invite you to join us for what could be the most profitable weekend of your life. On August 4-5, 2012, at The Hatchery’s swanky new digs [500 7th Avenue- 37th street, 17th floor], we are organizing the first-ever eCommerce hack day in New York City!
What’s going to be different than the one you did last weekend?
Well, for starters it’s a hackathon focused on building anything related to eCommerce, a $218 billion market. In other words, you may build something over the weekend that you’ll actually make money from. Crazy, right?
What is eCommerce?
We want developers to come in with an open mind on what they consider to be eCommerce. This means a lot of things to a lot of people. Whether you plan on building a killer hack that directly influences a merchant’s bottom-line or indirectly creates a better user experience, we want you there.
Want to attend? Cost?
If you are a developer and want to attend eCommerce Hack Day, we have a special puzzle for you to solve. This will prove your ability to program and help us keep the event high in quality, and competition. The first 200 hackers to solve it will get free tickets to the event. Let’s be clear, we expect these to go fast.
If you are a designer, or would like to come to demo day, head over to eCommerceHackDay.com and click on Designers or Demos to get a ticket for the event. These are free of charge, but are limited in number.
What companies are involved?
Glad you asked! Dwolla and Etsy are working together to organize this event, but we are also bringing together a bunch of our friends from other companies in the eCommerce industry. The companies currently involved are Constant Contact, Ordr.in, Sincerely, Zappos, Twilio, BustedTees, Kiip, Gumroad, Check n’ Go, and Stripe. We’re nailing down a half-dozen others as I write this, but we expect many more to get involved.
If you’d like to be involved- please fill out the form on eCommerceHackDay.com. You can sponsor, present your API, do a workshop, or something we haven’t thought of yet. Once you fill out the form, we will reach out to you.
What about prizes and judges?
One thing at a time! We are planning on announcing prizes and judges a week or two before the event. They will be awesome- stay tuned.
