Iowa Launch Date : December 1, 2009
I’m please to start off Dwolla’s new blog with a very special announcement.
As of December 1st, 2009. Dwolla’s web site and money transfer service will become available in the state of Iowa.
What does that mean?
Iowans (and Iowa business) will be able to begin using Dwolla.
Will both personal and business accounts be active?
Yes. They will be. Currently no new premium accounts will be added. However all free accounts will be open for sign up.
Why Iowa?
Iowa just makes sense. We are located in Iowa and keeping our service on a local level currently allows us to continue to build out our software platform. We can also ensure our user base does not grow too quickly this way. This is not only good for the management of our company but also for the users of our web site.
Why only 1 state?
Growing too quickly for a company that moves money believe it or not can be a problem. Historically some money transmitter services have been riddled with fraud and other financial problems due to rapid uncontrollable growth. Dwolla has a very methodical growth plan which does not include world domination. Just a good and reliable service.
How can you push your state for the next roll out?
Simple. Sign up for beta invites on the main page here.
If your from Iowa. How can you get a Dwolla account?
Simple. Sign up for a beta invite or just give us a call. Beta requests can be obtained by filling out the “new users” form here.
