Dwolla is headed to California

An exciting announcement.

After a little polling and a lot of traffic watching. We’ve decided to open our platform next in California.

As of March 1st, 2010. California residents and businesses will be able to open Dwolla accounts.

We’ll keep this entry short and sweet. :) Thanks @ SPN for the coverage!

Some other cool stuff.

SPN’s new prairiecast also did a interview with Ben Milne about the California expansion. Ben shared some of the challenges of the project and some of the benefits to Iowa.

We’d like to thank Geoff Wood and Andy Brudtkuhl for doing the interview and including Dwolla in your podcast.

Good stuff in the pipeline.

If you are close to our project you’ve probably at some point heard us preaching about the advantages of an API. What the API allows us to do is process transactions which do not occur on Dwolla’s web site.

We are quietly testing the API on a few different platforms. Results have been very promising thus far. Some of the common feedback we’ve heard is that users do not want to leave the merchants web site to process the payment. We have a very good solution for that without exchanging any personal information.

Is there a place for developers to check out the API?

Not yet. We are setting up a section of forms on the web site this week however. One of those is for developers to get more information on the platform. It will be included in the newsletter tomorrow.

We are very eager to learn more about the Dwolla API and how we might integrate into applications/billing system. We are also interested in offering to our clients as an alternate processing method.
