Buy big-name gift cards using Dwolla from the ION Rewards mobile app

You can now use Dwolla to buy gift cards to places such as Barnes & Noble, Land’s End, Brookstone, The Limited and Adidas thanks to Sionic Mobile’s ION Rewards, with plans to roll out the program to include 50 national brands by the end of the year. I wrote about ION in June of last year, highlighting their awesome Dwolla integration.

Make purchases within the app using Dwolla, a credit card or your ION reward points (which has a cash equivalent). All gift cards can be redeemed in-store, and some of them can be redeemed online.

Enough talking. Let’s check out how easy it is to use:

Find the store that you’d like to purchase a gift card from, and enter the amount you’d like to put on the card.

Enter your Dwolla PIN, and boom you have your gift card!

Any time you pay with Dwolla, you earn an additional 0.25% on top of the normal 1% IONs you earn with every purchase.

Create your ION Rewards account by downloading the iOS or Android app. Right now you get 5,000 IONs ($5) when you make your first purchase, another 500 IONs every time you check out with a new merchant, PLUS the 1.25% of the total price if you pay with Dwolla!
